Posture Corrective Brace
If you suffer from bad posture and it's not from a medical reason, there's a pretty good chance that
your poor posture developed slowly over a long period of time. Most likely it started in childhood. Bad posture is
not only evident when standing. You can have poor posture when you are sitting too. Slouching is a common term for
bad posture.
Bad posture allows the muscles that would normally be used to attain good posture to become weak and over a
period of time, other muscles take over and the person just "feels comfortable that way".
Many people are concerned about their poor posture because of the way they look when standing or sitting. The
problems created from bad posture can be more than just the way you look. A common complaint of people with poor
posture is lower back pain. Other complain of feeling tired and having muscle fatigue.
For most people, a posture brace will help pull the shoulders back and in the process straighten the spine
too. People with osteoporosis may find a posture corrective brace to be an excellent aid for them
too.
To achieve the effects of good posture a good posture corrective brace is the way to go. Keep in mind
that if you want to quicken the time to correct your poor posture, even with the brace, there are certain
exercises you can do to strengthen the proper muscles. A nice thing about a brace is that it 'reminds your brain"
what good posture feels like. And with some reinforcement, you will be more prone to correcting your posture on you
own without the brace. Good braces will conform to your body shape and are very difficult to detect under
clothing. Most use straps that go over the shoulders with soft elastic to help keep your posture correct. Some use
hook and loop (Velcro) to make adjusting them a very simple and quick thing to do. As your posture gets better and
better, you will be able to use less support and pressure.
If you are looking for the 'full' type of brace you should know that some cheaper models will dig into your skin
especially under your arms and a good brace will also come with a terry cloth liner to help keep you cooler and
dryer.
The care and cleaning is usually as simple as using mild soap and water. Some are machine washable but you need
to check the label to be sure. After drying they may look distorted but they can be pulled and stretched back into
their original shape will a little effort.
If you want to stand up straighter and feel better then a brace may be just the ticket. Today's braces are well
designed, well constructed, allow multiple adjustment points and offer great support. As an added benefit, they
are, for the most part not visible when worn under your clothing. So you can work or correcting your posture and no
one ever has to know. Use a posture corrective brace for a short period of time and you may be surprised just how
quickly you can correct your poor posture and you may have less back pain too.
